Linotype
This peculiar machine was used back in the 1930s as a way of printing articles for newspapers.
Once the linotype has been set at the correct text type, hand-written articles would be fed into the machine page by page, until the entire peice of writing is in the correct text suitable for a newspaper.
The linotype machine is mentioned in the novel by Scout, whilst she is speaking to the reader about Mr. Underwood-
"It was said that he made up every edition of The Maycomb Tribune out of his own head and wrote it down on the linotype."
